The service
What Marquis Custom is
Marquis Custom is a made-to-measure garment configurator for tailoring businesses. A subscription gives your salespeople access to the web application, where they can build and visualize garments, store client records and measurements, save orders and export factory specification documents, submit orders directly to a connected factory, and mirror the live configuration to a customer-facing tablet.
Garment types available today: jacket, pants and full suit. We add garment types and features over time, and may occasionally withdraw one. Where a change materially reduces what your subscription includes, we’ll tell you in advance. New garment types are included in your existing subscription unless we say otherwise in writing before you’re charged for them.
Access is sold per salesperson account, and accounts belong to your organization rather than to a location: if you trade from more than one shop, all of them sit under one account and one invoice, and the number you pay for follows the number of salespeople rather than the number of addresses.
A customer-facing tablet that mirrors what a salesperson is building pairs with their account and needs no subscription of its own. A kiosk — a station the client uses unattended — is charged separately; both are described under What you pay for.
Money
What you pay for
Access is charged per salesperson account, per month, at the rate set out in your invoice. Accounts belong to your organization rather than to a shop: if you trade from several locations they sit under one account and one invoice, and the number you pay for follows the number of salespeople rather than the number of addresses.
A customer display — a second screen mirroring what the salesperson is building — is included free with every account, and you may pair as many as you like. It is display only; nothing can be entered or ordered from it.
A kiosk is a different thing and is charged separately, per device per month: a station the client uses on their own, with no access to client records, no factory option picker and no way to submit an order. The client saves a configuration and a salesperson takes it from there. Kiosks are billed month to month, so you can add them for a busy season and drop them afterwards.
Rates depend on the number of accounts and on which garment types you are set up for. Your invoice, not this page, is the record of what you pay.
Starting out
New customers begin with a trial before committing to a subscription: an agreed number of accounts for an agreed period, with the base fabric books included, so you can use the application with real clients before deciding. The length and the number of accounts are confirmed to you in writing beforehand.
Most trials are free. Where one carries a fee — a reduced monthly rate, or paid work such as digitizing your fabric books — that is agreed in writing before it starts, and your confirmation or first invoice is the record of those terms. Where there is no fee, no payment details are needed and there is nothing to cancel: if you decide not to continue, the accounts simply stop working at the end.
Fabric digitization is never free. It is paid work whether it happens during a trial or after one, and it is quoted separately.
We will contact you before the trial finishes. Subscription billing starts only once you have agreed to continue and we have issued your first invoice. If you want more accounts than usual in order to test across several locations, we will agree that alongside a rollout plan, so the end of the trial is not a surprise to anyone relying on it.
Invoices
Invoices are issued monthly in advance, for the agreed number of accounts and any extras. Payment is collected by the method agreed with you — automatically by card or bank debit through Stripe, or on receipt of invoice within 14 days — and your invoice states which applies. Amounts are exclusive of any sales or other tax we are required to collect; where tax applies it is added.
Accounts are created once your first payment clears, and login details are sent to your nominated administrator. After that the subscription continues month to month, and access continues while payment is up to date. To add or remove accounts, contact us and we will adjust your next invoice; additional accounts are charged pro rata from the date they are created.
We may change our rates. Any change is emailed to your registered administrator at least 30 days before it applies, and never takes effect part-way through a period you have already paid for.
If an invoice is unpaid 14 days after its due date we may suspend access, and we will email you first. Your data is kept for 90 days after suspension, during which you can pay to restore access or ask for an export.
Stopping
You may cancel at any time by writing to support@marquiscustom.com. There is no cancellation fee, and access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for. The same applies if you cancel because of a price change: cancel before it takes effect and you are charged nothing further.
We do not refund partial periods once subscription billing has started — the trial is how you decide whether Marquis Custom suits your business. Fees for work already carried out, such as fabric digitization, are not refundable.
Extras
Some capabilities are paid extras rather than part of a standard subscription — kiosks, digitizing additional fabric books, applying your own branding, or embedding the configurator in your own website. Extras are described and priced in your invoice or in a separate written agreement, and are not included unless we have confirmed that in writing. An extra applies only for as long as it is paid for, and only to the organization named on the invoice.
Some carry a minimum term — an embedded storefront is built once and then runs monthly — which is stated in the agreement before any setup work begins. Where an extra has a setup fee, that fee covers the work of building it and is not refundable once the work has started.
Fabric digitization
Where you supply physical swatches, the agreed scope — the number of books and the number of swatches in each — is set out in writing before work starts. A book is quoted as a book up to an agreed maximum number of swatches, whatever the patterns in it: a plain cloth and a complicated check are the same price to you. Swatches are returned on request.
The tiles produced from them are created by us, added to the Marquis Custom fabric library, and remain our property. Supplying swatches does not give you exclusive use of the resulting tiles or any ownership of them.
Digitized books are licensed to your organization, not to a location. A book you have paid to digitize is visible to every account under your organization, at every shop, without paying again, and stays available for as long as your subscription is active. Books are licensed rather than sold: if the subscription ends, access ends with it and the tiles are not transferred to you.
Factory orders
Sending orders to your factory
Marquis Custom can connect to your factory’s ordering system so an order you build here is submitted directly, rather than being re-entered by hand. Using it is optional — you can continue exporting order sheets and submitting them yourself.
It’s your account and your relationship
The connection uses your own factory account, under whatever terms you already have with that factory. We don’t hold an account on your behalf, we’re not a party to your agreement with them, and we don’t set their prices, lead times or production standards. We pass on what you submit.
What gets sent
When you submit an order through the connection, its full specification is sent to your factory — garment options, construction details, measurements, and the client name where your factory’s system requires one. Once it has been sent, that information sits with the factory and is governed by their terms and privacy practices, not ours. What they retain, who can see it, and how long they keep it is between you and them.
Your credentials
Connecting requires your factory login. It’s used to submit your orders and to retrieve their status, and for nothing else. You can disconnect at any time from within the application, and access ends when your subscription does. If you’d rather not connect, don’t — every feature except direct submission works without it.
Checking what you send
An order is submitted as you built it. Marquis Custom translates your selections into your factory’s format, but it doesn’t verify that a specification is correct, sensible, or what your client asked for. Reviewing an order before submitting it — and checking it against the factory’s own confirmation afterwards — remains yours to do, exactly as it would be if you were entering it manually.
When it doesn’t work
A factory system may be unavailable, may change without notice, or may reject an order for reasons we can’t see. We’ll surface what the factory tells us, but we can’t guarantee that a submission succeeds, that a status is current, or that a connection keeps working if the factory alters their system. If a submission fails, the order stays in Marquis Custom and can be exported and submitted the usual way.
Amending or canceling
Once an order has reached your factory, changing or canceling it is a matter between you and them, through their process. Editing an order in Marquis Custom afterwards updates our record — it does not alter or withdraw anything already submitted.
Privacy
Your data
What we store
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Salesperson names and email addresses | To create and secure their accounts |
| Client records you enter — name, contact details, measurements, notes | So you can attach them to orders |
| Order records — garment specification, date, assigned client | To provide order history and factory documents |
| Preferences — favorites and option ordering | So each salesperson’s setup follows them between devices |
We do not store payment card details. Payments are handled by Stripe, and card data never reaches our systems.
Where it’s stored
Application hosting: Vercel. Database and sign-in: Supabase, hosted in East US (North Virginia). Both are third-party providers with their own security practices.
Where you use a factory connection, order information — including measurements and, where the factory’s system requires it, a client name — is sent to your factory, which may be outside the United States. Once sent, that information is held by the factory under their own terms and privacy practices. See Sending orders to your factory above.
Who can see it
Your organization’s records are isolated from every other customer’s at the database level. We can access your data only where it’s necessary to provide support or fix a technical fault.
Client data is yours
The client records you enter belong to you. You’re responsible for having a lawful basis to collect your own clients’ details, and for telling them how their information is used. We process that data on your behalf and only to run the service.
Keeping and deleting
We keep your data while your subscription is active and for 90 days afterwards. You can ask for an export or permanent deletion at any time by writing to support@marquiscustom.com. Deletion requests are actioned within 30 days.
AI-assisted styling
The application includes an optional styling assistant. When a salesperson uses it, their written description and the garment configuration currently on screen are sent to a third-party AI provider (Anthropic) to generate suggestions. Client names, contact details and measurements are never sent. Suggestions are advisory — the salesperson makes the final choice.
Availability
Service availability
We aim to keep Marquis Custom available at all times but don’t guarantee uninterrupted service. Planned maintenance is announced in advance where practical. We’re not liable for losses caused by downtime, by third-party provider outages, or by loss of internet connectivity at your premises.
Rules
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Share login credentials between people — each salesperson needs their own account
- Attempt to access another organization’s data
- Resell or sublicense access without a written agreement
- Reverse engineer, copy or redistribute the application
We may suspend accounts that breach these terms.
Limits
Liability
Marquis Custom is a visualization and record-keeping tool. It does not guarantee that a manufactured garment will match the on-screen preview. Fabric colors vary between screens and between production batches, and responsibility for checking a specification before it goes to the factory rests with you.
Where orders are sent through a factory connection, we’re responsible for passing on what you submitted. We’re not responsible for what the factory does with it, for their lead times or production standards, or for a garment that was made exactly as specified but isn’t what the client wanted. Reviewing an order before you submit it, and checking the factory’s confirmation afterwards, is yours to do.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability in connection with the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We’re not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits or lost orders.
Admin
Changes & governing law
We may update these terms. Material changes are emailed to your registered administrator at least 30 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept them.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
